Primer dias em Brasil...

Welcome everyone to Brasil.

Just a recap of what we have been up to of late on this trip thus far...

On Friday afternoon, we finally met together and had formal introductions with the Professor and her teaching assistant. We also had the opportunity to hear from Luis Octavio da Silva regarding a background on São Paulo and the current state of affairs here. Next we heard from Vivani and her coworkers from the São Paulo state Housing and Urbanism Authority, speaking about the Pantanol project, which refers to a redevelopment of a favela into a more cohesive livable community. They highlighted their methodology and issues that are involved on this project, which we will be touring on Monday, before leaving for Curitiba.

Today, we met with Fabio in the morning, who gave us another introductory lecture on São Paulo, and the constant shifting of development of the city center to other locations. From here, we took a whirlwind tour around São Paulo, visiting a park, driving down Avenida Paulista (and hearing the radio signals on the bus microphone), visiting the Universidad da São Paulo, Pinheiros, Marginal Pinheiros, among other places around greater São Paulo.

Do you have any reactions to today or yesterday's series of events? Please do post your thoughts on the day's events.
