Some reminders...

Bom Dia.

I hope everyone is off to a good start on their four day weekend. We got a lot of things ahead next week.

Some reminders...

1. Proposals are due to the Prof by Monday. Email them to urpcuritiba@dcp.ufl.edu. The sooner you get your proposals in, the sooner you will receive comments. Do not start emailing any professional in Curitiba, until the Prof has reviewed your proposal.

2. For those with student visas, most were with me this morning, but just in case as a reminder, there are a few things that have to be done before registering with Policia Federal. Those things are:

Visit the Ministry of International Relations (445 Rua Vicente Machado), to have them review your documents.

Notarized copies of your visa and passport (including all used pages). A cartorio is located at Praca Osorio, on Rua Luiz Xavier, in the Galeria Lucas.

Passport Photos, which can be done on Rua XV de Novembre and Alameda Dr. Muircy. From the Galeria exit near Praca Osorio, turn left, you hit Rua XV de Novembre. Turn right on Dr Muircy. You will see a place on the left side of the street called Fotos Internacional. Go up the stairs, and you will see the photo place.

Receive a declaration letter from UFPR (to be taken care of by the Prof)

Pay the federal taxes on the Student visas (www.dpf.gov.br) (GRU para Estrangeiros).
Taxes are:
Registro restabelecimento (R$ 64.58) (~ USD $33)
Carteria de Extrangeiro 1 via (R$124.23) ( ~ USD $64)

(HOLD OFF FROM PAYING THE TAX. THE PROF IS TRYING TO SEEK AN ALTERNATIVE. WAIT UNTIL SHE SAYS OTHERWISE. THE SAME APPLIES TO VISITING THE POLICIA FEDERAL, WHICH IS ON ALAMEDA DR. FAIVRE 1212 (Manuel Torres Stop on the Centenario Bus Line).

3. The blog has had new authors added, yet they are not classmates. Please refrain from forwarding the invitation to be an author from the blog that was sent to you, and just forward only the address, which is ufcuritiba2007.blogspot.com. It is a public blog allowing public comments, but the authors are restricted only to classmates.

4. If you need an umbrella, its not like walking into a pharmacy to find one. There is a place that sells them on Rua XV de Novembre, near the Galeria Lucas.

5. When going out, just use common sense for safety. Stay in pairs, and carry a card of the hotel.

6. Hotel bus stop is three blocks away. The stop is Brigadero Franco on the Centenario Line.

Thats about all the reminders that come up.

Have a good weekend.
